Maddie Mae Nyholm is an 11-year-old hoping to one day attend UC Davis as a veterinarian student, but until then she is enjoying her last year in elementary as a new 6thgrader. When Maddie Mae isn’t enjoying her favorite subject in school, math, she is striving in the classroom and on the blacktop to continue to represent her role as an honorary Oaniya Lee Sunshine Award recipient, for spreading exceptional kindness and bringing sunshine to everything she does on her schools’ campus.
When Maddie Mae isn’t hitting the books you can find her in her favorite place, the outdoors. Whether it is camping, riding her bike, playing tag with friends and family, riding ATVs, spending time with her chickens, or horseback riding, she enjoys every minute outside. Besides loving on her own pets at home Maddie Mae has enough love to share and reads to animals at her local SPCA through their Reading Buddies program. When Maddie Mae isn’t spending time with animals, she enjoys serving her community.
In 2021 Maddie Mae had a plan to bring some much-needed cheer to her local PD, after her hot cocoa event for them she was hooked. Through hot cocoa and lemonade stands Maddie Mae’s love has turned into an incredible passion project, over the years raising more than 5,000 dollars in monetary donations as well as physical donations ranging from books to blankets for her community so far. Maddie Mae has been able to donate all funds to organizations such as Pink Heals Solano, S.O.C.K Supporting Our Cancer Kids, Operation Care and Comfort, as well as Adopt a Grandparent Outreach Program. Maddie Mae isn’t ready to stop here and strives to continue to raise and donate more money and items as she spreads “mad love” throughout her community. One day Maddie Mae hopes to turn #madlove12 into a registered nonprofit, believing that a little hard work and kindness can go a long way!
